Nurses Requrements.

    Each USA state has a nursing board. Each nursing board has its own set of regulations for overseas-trained nurses. To work in the USA as an RN, you have to be licensed by the relevant state board of nursing and the license is only valid for that particular state.

    Language Competency Requirements.

    For nurses who have not undertaken their professional training in the United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, Canada or the USA, the American immigration process requires you to sit either the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) or the TOEFL/TSE (Test of English as a Foreign Language/Test of Spoken English) tests.

    You have to take one of the following test and achieve the indicated scores to pass:

  • IELTS- Academic Module or the General Training Module 6.5, Overall Band Score, 7.0 Speaking.
  • TOEFL-Paper-Based 540; TOEFL Computer-Based 207; Test of Written English (TWE) 4.0; Test of Spoken English (TSE) 50
  • TOEIC - 725; plus TWE: 4.0 and TSE: 50
  • NLCEX-RN Examinations.

    The NCLEX-RN is a national, standardized, multiple-choice exam for registered nurses developed and controlled by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing. The exam is application oriented related to the job functions most commonly required of entry-level RNs. The exam tests current medical knowledge, nursing competencies and determines eligibility to earn a RN license and begin working as a Registered Nurse. NCSBN has developed two licensure examinations used by its Member Boards to test the entry-level nursing competence of candidates for licensure as registered these are NCLEX-RN® and NCLEX-PN® examinations,the first step is to apply for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Nurses must pass this computerized, multiple choice exam in order to practice in the United States. The exam integrates concepts and processes essential to practicing nursing and meeting client needs. The test consists of multiple-choice questions, fill-in-the-blank items, or items asking a candidate to identify an area from a graph/picture/chart. The exam, which covers five areas of nursing (medicine, surgery, paediatrics, psychiatry and obstetrics) is designed to test your knowledge and ability to provide the highest level of patient care Boards of Nursing are state governmental agencies that are responsible for the regulation of nursing practice in each respective state
